Unique Imperial Stout. Black, intense and komplex. Well-balanced roasted, fruity and liquorice notes with a mild bitterness and a hint of sweetness. Legendary brew from BFM clocking in at 10.276 % vol. With its ebony colour, a dense coffee flavoured foam, the bouquet incorporates hints of liquorice, Bourbon vanilla, and Sarawak pepper. Dry hopping notes and the use of roasted malts are also perceptible. On the palate, it introduces burly and creamy tastes with developing aromas that are slightly sour, but the finish proves to be long with a subtle tartness that grants this revolutionary Cuvee its ungovernable supremacy.

Bottle of the 2009 batch. Pours with a near black hue and a lasting khaki head. Good lace. Aromas of chocolate, fudge, grapes, tar, molasses, pepper, lots of vinous notes, and a bit of a tang towards the finish. Flavor of tobacco, tea, vinous, chocolate, pepper, cedar, light acidic note, fruit and a bit of cracker. There is a distinct acidic note. Long, yeasty, marmite aftertaste. Acidic note gets more pronounced as it warms. Creamy carbonation. Some copper in the finish.

Medium brown color. Chalky, sour cherries, dog shit, a bit of chocolate. Lots of funky chocolate sour cherries, not so balanced but fun and funky. Interesting but not really an imp stout. Still I like it.

Bottle @ Brugmansia/Fonefan Tasting, June 2010. Pours dark brown with a small creamy head and lacings. Vague roast, chocolate, dark fruit, berries and brett. Medium bodied. Ends very dry.

Bottle 330ml. w. swing top.Clear dark red brown color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, oxidide malt, wood, berry acidic, berry sweet. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, light acidic and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100612]

Bottle, 10.276%. Distinctly fruity aroma, some berry. Muddy brown colour. Small frothy light brown head. The flavour starts off nicely citric, has some fruit. Also quite malty, and with a distinct roasted note. OK combination. Warming alcohol finish.

Hazy mahogany with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and liquerice. Flavour had hard roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and toffee. Finished sweet.

swing top bottle (330ml). -Trade with Allen (thanks Julian!). Dark brown coloured with red glare, medium sized pale brown head, spices and chocolate in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and herbal hops with notes of plums and burnt sugar. Bitter and alcoholic finish. Surprisingly easy drinkable imperial stout. 10.276%ABV

Draught Very dense & thick dark-beige head over fully hazy opaque dark brown beer. Vinous, superb woody/alcoholic nose, despite the cold serving temperature; fruity, estery and fusels, point of lactic acid. Dry, very much liquorice flavour, watercolour paint. All traces of acidity gone, some spice I cannot recognize. Wood, ink, unripe fruit, solvent; warming up, becoming almondy. Very dry, near wry MF, well-bodied, alcoholwarming; Definitely the beer doesn’t deliver what its fantastic nose promised. And it’s at the opposite end of easy-drinking.
