Unique Imperial Stout. Black, intense and komplex. Well-balanced roasted, fruity and liquorice notes with a mild bitterness and a hint of sweetness. Legendary brew from BFM clocking in at 10.276 % vol. With its ebony colour, a dense coffee flavoured foam, the bouquet incorporates hints of liquorice, Bourbon vanilla, and Sarawak pepper. Dry hopping notes and the use of roasted malts are also perceptible. On the palate, it introduces burly and creamy tastes with developing aromas that are slightly sour, but the finish proves to be long with a subtle tartness that grants this revolutionary Cuvee its ungovernable supremacy.

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty fruity alcoholic aroma with chocolatey notes. Dry-sweetish alcoholic chocolatey cocoa taste with fruity papery notes. Mid-bodied. Dry-acidic pine needle and fruity aftertaste. (0.33l bottle.)

Bottle at Mekong’s Beer tasting with Jerome on 01/20/2010. Clear ruby brown body with a small frothy tan head. Sweet chocolate, roast, and fruit aroma. Sweet chocolate and roast flavor with some light fruit and caramel. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

Bügelverschlußflasche (Dank an Allen!): Deep ruby-amber coloured, presumably hazy, big persistent loose tanned head; moderate sweet roast-malty nose with an ashy touch and vinous influences; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; slightly lingering sweet roast-malty and a bit vinous finish with warming alcohol and dried fruits. On the sweet side, but nice......

(swing top bottle, 33cl, with thanks To Allen!) Almost black coloured hue with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Moderately sweet roast-malty aroma with fruity notes, leather, liquorice and phenolic spices. Sweet and slightly roasty bitter flavour with a tinge of acidity, full bodied with a smoothly carbonated mouthfeel. Roast-malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of mocha and liquorice; dry-out effect towards the sweet-bitter, slightly fruity and tart finish with a well-hidden alcohol .24.XII.09

A deep dark stout with a thick moka head. A nice chocolate malt with light vinous notes, some Brett action, molasses. In mouth, a sweet and sour chocolate, with nice acidic points, wooden, veering away from the thick IS, and on sour ale territory. Challenging. Bieropholie import.

This beer is proof that good things can come in small packages - lots of potential here. Almost black and completely devoid of head or lacing. Aroma suggests cafe au lait and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is very smooth, tastes slightly of oak, faint sourness. Hints of black pepper and vanilla, with an edge of scotch. Finishes with licorice. Very complex. Would like to see it after laying down for a couple of years.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Beige head quickly recedes to mottle surface. Sweet fruity herb tea and pepper aromas. Thin upfront with sweet chocolate covered, bourbon-soaked pit fruit and a lasting bitter bourbon and vanilla finish.

Bottle. 2009. Dark brown beer with a light tan head. Earth and tea aroma with malt and spice. Rich malt flavor with tea, earth, and spice. Medium-plus bodied. Rich malt, tea, and spice lingers. Good complexity.

Bottled (thanks Bov!). Deep brown colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is caramel malts, sourness, wooden burnt notes as well as some slight coffeeishness. Flavour is roasted malts, alcohol, some spices and herbs. Quite complex, but a bit too burnt and sticky sweet for my taste.
