Noar St. Ephens Stout

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas. Dark brown. Aroma of caramel, toast, some chocolate, nuts, malt, yeast, some fruitiness, a bit of alcohol. Sweetish flavor with caramel, fruitiness, mild toast, a chocolate note, fruitiness, light acidity, and light bitterness. Medium-bodied.

From bottle. Pours hazy brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, slight breadish. Bitter, roasted and toasted dark malty. Bitter and dry herbal into the finish.

Sehr dunkel orange braunes Bier mit einer mittelgroßen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch mild röstmalzig, Vanille, Karamell. Geschmack mild röstmalzig süß, Karamell .

Black body, with a small, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of roast, coffee, dark chocolate, vegetables.
Tastes of coffee, toast, dark chocolate, some liquorice, subtle dark fruits.
Medium, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes roasty, quite dry, toasty, with some coffee, some liquorice.

Good, but nothing special. The nose is quite unclean, taste is better, but a bit one-dimensional. There are much better Stouts from Austria.

0,1l from bottle at Craft Beer Festival Graz as "Noar St. Ephens Stout 6.5%" shared with Saeglopur. very black color, small off-white head. smells spices, some coffee, nuts, smells a bit like dishwashing soap, some licorice, quite like the smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of dried fruits, plums, some licorice, a bit soapy / dish washing soap again, light raisins, mulberry notes, light glueish notes. finishes with licorice and mulberry notes. quite like it, not really any roast notes on this one, rather strong licorice, and a light uncleanliness, but overall good.
