This boy was hard work to get into the glass. I had to scoop the froth three times because it just kept growing! Ever growing brown head climbed up & up on top of a very active near black body. Milk chocolate aroma. Smooth, full mouth feel - airy on the palate. Creamy hot milk chocolate, malt & brown sugar flavours followed by a long bitter finish & slightly salty aftertaste.

Appearance- very dark brown, opaque, some carbonation, a big pillowy head which lasts. Aroma- toffee, caramel, coffee, milk chocolate, biscuity malt, hop traces. Taste- treacle coffee, caramel biscuit, bitter coffee, fudge, chocolate, toasty malt. Quite a full and syrupy mouthfeel. Tasty.

Cask tasted at Bow Bar, Edinburgh on 10/08/2016. Almost black opaque colour with a medium tan beige head. Aroma is funk, sugar, toffee and salted caramel. Taste is weird, very weird. Too salty caramel and sugar. Not for me. Next one please!

4oz cask pour is a watery black with some creamy, beige head. Nose has chocolate, malt, toast. Flavor has more yeast, caramel, chocolate, brown sugar. Creamy, sweet finish. Pretty nice.

Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe. Black with a thick beige head and a light frothy fizz. Rather fake caramel whiff. On tasting it’s quite salty up front, but this is soon well balanced by the chocolate and lightly roasty malts. Still leaves a slightly salty aftertaste. Intetesting and pretty pleasant.
