A glorious showcase of the distinct, heavily hopped beers for which Shepherd Neame is famed, India Pale Ale delivers potent bitterness, offset with generous amounts of pale ale malt to deliver a balanced, yet uncompromising brew.

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally to moderately lacing, off-white head. Minimally sulphureous herbal hoppy aroma, fruity hints of pine apple. Taste is initially minimally sweet fruity, notes of pineapple, unripe pear, later with predominating bitter hoppy overtones; again with a subtle, latent sulphureous touch.

Bottle:Clear, copper coloured, long lasting off-white head with a little lace, fruity-caramelly nose, supported by a floral-hoppy background; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, relatively soft, barely medium bodied; lingering hoppy-caramelly finish with some toffee notes and a herbal-hoppy aftertaste. A very pleasant drink…

Bottle shared at home - cheers Steven! Pours a nice orange with a decent, long lasting white head. Aroma has something a bit funky, which is odd. Sweet malts and spicy hop aromas, tastes similar, but lacking ooomph. Finishes sweet, not enough bitterness. Overall pretty dull.

Bottle, 6.1%. Weak bready aroma. Clear amber colour. Good malty flavour with a clean hoppiness. Quite malty and caramelly for an IPA.

50 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is light fruity. Toasted malty and bitter. Light citrusy and crisp hoppy. Dry and bitter finish.

Served too cold from bottle at One Pint’s stand at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Clear and dark golden in colour. Bitterness and subdued taste of English hops balanced by malt sweetness. Medium long aftertaste. Could have been more hop aroma.

Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013, served a bit too cold. Deep golden to brown colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of "dusty" hops, a hint of toffee in the background. The medium dry flavour has a distinct and sharp hoppy bitterness throughout, but I get little hop flavour besides the bitterness. Not that great, really.
