A glorious showcase of the distinct, heavily hopped beers for which Shepherd Neame is famed, India Pale Ale delivers potent bitterness, offset with generous amounts of pale ale malt to deliver a balanced, yet uncompromising brew.

[10/15] Bottle. Clear copper with an off white head. Aroma of Rowntree’s blackcurrant gums, boiled oranges, toffee, grass. Medium bodied, lowish carbonation. Tastes as it smells except for a metallic tinge that bothered me less after a few sips. Pretty bitter at the end. Odd and rather unwelcoming. [6.0]
[7/25] I dunno, was there a pasteurisation thing that's improved or was I just wrong here? Old fashioned, bitter IPA. Citrus, bread, stern bitterness. Hits a - if not the - spot. [6.8]

(Bottle) Clear Amber with small white head. Nice aroma - light malt, slight flintiness, with some gentle hop notes. Medium body with great carbonation. Taste is light caramel with lovely complex hoppy bitterness. Great classic IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Mabel’s Tavern, Euston. Copper, clear with the tiniest bit of off-white head. The initially off-putting metallic and sulphurous aroma gives way to a kinder scent of brambles. Bitter taste with a suggestion of sweetness; the sulphur egginess still holds sway. Nicely carbonated. It’s ok.

Bottle. Aroma fruity English hops. Clear amber colour. Taste clean hoppy, moderate bitterness, fruity, light sour and light caramel. Okay English ale.
