Murphy's Law reversed! When you have an off spec beer you are left with two choices. Dump it or play with it. We at Nøgne Ø believe in seeing the possibilities and grasping the opportunities given. Our miscoloured Saison was put in fresh red wine barrels, and the flavours created we found irresistible. So we made more. This bottle contains a blend of our finest red wine barel aged Saison.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a hazy orange gold color with a huge off-white soapy head. Aromas of brett, green apple, pear, oak and grass. Lightly tart with a nice funky brett character. Good carbonation. Taste is really similar to the nose. Brett finish that lingers. Nice stuff that’s similar to the BFM √225 Saison. --- Beer merged from original tick of Saison Réserve on 06 Aug 2015 at 18:54 - Score: 8

330ml bottle. Hazy amber colour with huge, fluffy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Yeasty aroma with a bretty touch - some funk, a touch of glue, bubblegum and lemon - finds a complementary response by hints of the red wine BA. Taste is yeasty and vinous, dry, oaky and slightly tart, the same flavours appear with less intensity; additional yeasty peppery spiciness accumulates to reign the finish. Very nice.

330ml bottle, batch 977, from Vinmonopolet Bestillingsutvalget. Hazy orange coloured body, pearl white head. Fragile lacing. Drying smell with oak and yeasty fruitiness. Brett, dark spces, oak and citrus tartness to the taste buds. Drying finish. Vinous palate. Foamy in the mouth. Refreshing (Tromsø 24.07.2015).

Oh yeah you can easily spot the red wine connection here. Fits very well in actually. So did I enjoy this? Absolutely. Not actually my favorite ale. But I will not mind having more. It made a difference. Uncelar brown-ish color with a fine off white head. Nice lacing. Belgian yeast, red wine, oak and citric. Pleasant acidity.

330 ml. bottle. Purchased @ De Hopduvel. Brygget: 03.06.13. BBF 03.06.18. GUSHER (a minor one). Pours murky orange with a very patchy off-white head. Nose is hugely lactic red wine, murky, rotting red berries, Greek yoghurt, ditch water lemon, barnyard, light acidity, touch sourness,… Akin to an USA sour but feels like an accident, is this beer supposed to be sour, wild & lactic? Taste is very milky, yeast, lactic red wine, big yoghurt & rather grainy, spoiled red fruits, rotting red grapes, light tannins, strongly yeasty, light yoghurt,… Murky yeast & yoghurt dominates too heavily, needs to be thinner, cleaner but than again none of this feels even remotely intentional. An okay USA-style sour, I suppose & possibly an infection that turned out rather decently. Odd.

Gylden brun litt tåkete med lavt hvitt skum som ligger. Lukter sure bær, vanilje, granskudd, trevirke og julekrydder. Forventet sur smak men den kom ikke. Men noe syrlig. Noe fruktig mot svisker. Noe pepperig. Tørr. Kort
