Starting life as a rich scotch ale, lusciously dark with a complex malty backbone, this beer goes through a transformation. As it reaches adolescence it spends time in carefully selected whisky casks from our close neighbours at Tomatin Distillery. Once perfectly matured the beer emerges as something new. Freeburn gets its name from the burn which supplies the Tomatin distillery on Loch Ness.

Overtime Freeburn absorbs the complex notes of the wood and the original whisky it once housed to transform its flavour and aroma. This beer is a combination of art and science. It is a beer to be savoured and enjoyed.

Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. It pours clear deep mahogany brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is sweet, rather fruity, cola cubes, red berry, candy, bread, malt loaf, fig rolls and date. The taste is smooth, pretty sweet, fruity, spicy whisky, cola cubes, fruit candy, brown sugar, spice and some alcohol boost. With a sweet, warming finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent aroma, but a bit sweet and hot. Not bad.
