When brewing a Belgian IPA one is faced with a serious dilemma. Should there be more of Belgium, with its fruity yeast flavours? Or should one lean towards America — pronounced, IPA-style bitterness and alluring resin-citrusy aromas?

We decided to bet on Belgium, out of respect for its brewing traditions and, also, because there are already plenty of classis IPAs on our menu.

In Goedemorgen peaches and oranges come to the fore, swiftly followed by spicy pepper and herbs. That’s Belgian esters. The lemons and grapefruit you smell afterwards come from the American hops. The overarching aroma is this of biscuits and caramel — courtesy of lightly-roasted malts. When tasting, you can additionally expect bold, yet crisp and brief bitterness.
