Imperial Stout

Brewed with an abundance of malts, this stout is smooth as silk, yet complex and rich in body. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature to allow the notes of chocolate, dark fruit and caramel to soar. Put another log on the fire, sit back and enjoy the moment with this full-bodied and utterly delicious cold weather companion.

Bottle at home. Pitch black, 100% opaque, pour, with a tall espresso head with good retention. The aroma includes notes of roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, licorice and light smoke. The taste follows those notes, very roasty chocolate bitteress with some subtle pine resin and grapefruit peel notes. Full bodied, medium to soft carbonation and with a very roasty and full of chocolate finish.

Tummanruskea, miltei musta olut kohtalaisella tummanruskealla vaahdolla, jota jää pieni kerros oluen pinnalle. Alkoholi hyvin piilossa.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is a near black one with a tiny kinda sidesticking dark brown top. It has a strong roasted aroma with a undertone of something that could remind a bit of green bananas mixed with wet campfire rocks and chocolate. Sounds strange, but I like it. Thick and chewy on the mouthfeel with a soft prickling carbonation level. Lots of roasted flavors, and the chocolate isn't to subtle. Roasted coffee, lots of mouthdrying wood almost okay flavors. A bit of alcohol and some strong cold espresso coffee in the finish. Quite good, but picky as I am, I had hoped for a little more punch. 04.05.2013

355ml bottle. Pours black in colour with a light brown foam head leaving lots of lacing. Aroma of roast malty, dark chocolate, coffee, boozy. Taste is roasted, chocolatey malt, sweetish, molasses, dark fruits, raisins, coffee, ash, liqorice, with tangy, spicy lingering bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, dry warm roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.

0.355 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’, bottled in November 2015. Pitch black with a medium large, creamy, almost stable, dark brown head. Sweetish, moderately roasty aroma of mocca, pralines, toasted nuts, vanilla, cocoa and hints of raisins. Sweet, rather roasty taste of mocca, pralines, cocoa, some licorice and vanilla, followed by a long, firm roasty-bitter, quite warming and burning finish. Full body, very creamy and viscid mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Massive beer, close to perfection. Very intense, great mouthfeel, satisfying and moreish finish. Hard to beat without barrel-aging.
