An imperial stout first brewed in 2015 by Fyne Ales who collaborated with Brouwerij De Molen in the Netherlands. The response was so successful that this beer has been made a permanent addition to Fyne's range. Mills & Hills is a rich, malty stout with lots of treacle and chocolate characters. This complex combination of malts and hops creates a full flavoured beer which is perfect for cold, wintry nights.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a jet black color with a medium beige head. A big roasted malt and dark fruit nose. Really big slick sweet dark fruit, prunes, licorice, smoke, certainly a great stout. A slick oily palate. Rich candied fruit syrup. Lovely.

330ml bottle. Pours dark, lovely tan head. Solid roast, cocoa and sweet dark fruits in the aroma. Taste is wonderfully complex, lots of meaty roasted malts, sweet liquorice, dark treacle, molasses, dark fruits.. a real kaleidoscope of rich, dark flavours with a teasing sweetness that keeps creeping into view. I assume that is the Sorachi and Calypso strutting their stuff. I don’t often re-visit the same beers, but I’d like to revisit this one regularly.

At Maakun’s, bottle courtesy of Maakun. Black, with dark tan head. Big sweet dark roasted chocolate malts, dark fruity notes, nuttiness, molasses, big chokotoff toffee, light alcoholic, distant espresso. Over medium sweet, under medium ground bitterness. Bottle shared at home. Black with nice thick light brown head. Lots of dark chocolate, dried red fruits, roasted nuts and grains, dried apple, cashews, espresso. It’s quite fruity actually, with a strong roasted note from start to finish. Medium sweet and bitter and light sour. Full bodied with a bit sticky feel, but it seems thinner because of the light sourness.

Draught @ Brewdog Bar, Barcelona. Pours black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, loads of dark chocolate, little licorice. Flavor is light bitter, rich malty, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, bitter finish with some alcohol burn. I’m happy i didnt get any Sorachi Ace. 300416

Warming, so very very rich. Starts really bitter, turning bittersweet. Some plums. Lingering toffee aftertaste.

Bottle@Taphouse Tuesday Bottle Share, Copenhagen - (Big thanks to stu for this one) pours black with a beige head. Aroma and taste is medium roasty malty, nice big cocoa hit, some caramel and treacle, dark dried fruity, smooth and goes down a treat. Very nice.
