The Export India Porter relates to porter in similar manner to the way the IPA relates to the Pale Ale: they added more hops. We’ve taken Barclay Perkins recipe from 1855, but changed the hops to Columbus and Cascade (American varieties) and hopped it in the same way that we hop our IPAs. The result is a dark brown beer that smells of cocoa, roses, and some orange. The body is quite light, and it is carbonated more highly than usual for a porter to make it more refreshing. It’s quite light in texture and tastes of Turkish delight dusted with cocoa powder – chocolate, rose water and fruit. Dry finish.

330 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 5.8%. Hop is Target. Black colour, moderate tan head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, exotic woodwork, dark chocolate. The flavour is mid between dry and sweet, with distinct roast malts, strong coffee and dark bitter chocolate, also distinct bittering hops.

Draft @ Tilquin English Beer Festival 2018. Dark brown/black colour, thin layer of foam. Very roasty, coffee. Malty, light sweet notes. Very nice porter for this low ABV.

Bottle bought at Tilquin English Beer Festival 2018. Shared with Anke.
Pours cloudy black with a small, frothy, beige head; little lacing. 'Dark' aroma of coffee ground, tea leaves, figs & raisin, roasted malt, some grapefruit, dark chocolate, earth. It tastes medium roasted bitter, a bit sweet with a hint of dark fruits, and medium hoppy bitter, some yeast and an umami note coming through (black olive). Toasty & hoppy finish, well-balanced, lingering grapefruit, pine, coffee & fondant. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Great Porter (or Black IPA?), balanced and rich in taste. One of my best Porters yet.

At a tasting, smallish bubbly head, very dark brown color with hints of reddish hues, aroma of dark bread with some smokiness and woody and herbal hints, quite bitter herbal with intense dark chocolate and some charred hints. Quite easy to drink and highly enjoyable.

Bottle at home from the Offie & Toffee. An almost black colour in the glass, small head and plenty of lacing. Lot's of malt on the nose and the taste was all burnt malt and lots of bitter hops. A definite liquorice thing going on and the alcohol was noticeable. This wasn't an easy drinking strong porter and I have had better.

0.33 l bottle shared with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran. Dark brown, small tan head. Very roasty, chocolate 🍫 slightly metallic. Some dry fruits, ash. Very dry. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, some hops coming out in the finish.

Tap at Bishops Arms Uppsala. A tough cookie. First inhale was beautiful. The taste is so so. But the palate. Even though it clings a little, it is just amazing how they make a beer like that. That has some dark chocolate notes, some smokeyness but a real spicy cling to the tongue. I'm in awe really, my tongue feels a little burning like I've had a curry. For that reason alone it is a 4. Intriguing beer.

Вark brown, close to black beer with a good tan foam. Aroma: hoppy, a light spice of hops, coffee-fruit, mango and chocolate, dried fruits. Taste: coffee-chocolate, fruits, citrus, earty and pine hops, creamy, bitter finish. Pleasant india-porter.
