Father Ted 4.2 ABV – Fantastic chestnut colour with a backbone of warm, mellow malts and a glorious bitter hop finish. Classic English special bitter – All English hops: Challenger &Pilgrim
The name for this beer was inspired by Julie’s dad, Ted Doyle RIP, who was a keen home brewer in his day. This beer was first brewed on 2nd June 2013, Ted’s birthday and the pump clip bears his image as a 17 year old Submariner during WW2 and his submarine ‘The Votary’. Ted would have been very proud of Melwood.

Sampled @ Brassigaume 2018. A clear amber beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, mild resinous bitter hops. Taste of mild citrusy hops, toasted caramelish malt, mild bitterness.

Cask @ The Excelsior, Liverpool. Golden with not much of a head. It’s a lightly sweetened ale with some malts in its nose and a more balanced, somewhat neutral taste. A little sticky in its texture.
