From the bottle. Amber in color with a thin, creamy white head. Aroma of apple cider, rum and oak. Reminds more of a barley wine than a traditional German Doppelbock. Taste is more tart than sweet, but the tartness is mild, full of warm rum and apples. Medium body, soft carbonation, very warming. Quite nice.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass copper coloured, small head. Malty alcoholic aroma. Starts strong, intense malty, quite alcoholic. Woody background. Some woody sourish notes. Alcoholic warming finish. Quite drinkable for its strength. Not bad.

Bottle bought at Mainz 2018. Fresh grainy and sightly sourish beginning. Fruity hints, the wood and hints of the rum are there, but in the back. Sessionable, slightly sourish, deep and intense in the back. Nice.

Sampled @ Trierer Bier Festival 2018. A clear reddish orange beer with a small white ring. Aroma of strong red fruits, caramel, grapes. Taste of resinous bitter hops, red malt, wood, grapes.

22-09-18 // bottle bought at the brewery and shared. Quite clear dark brown Doppelbock. Malty body but quite light for 9.5%. Mild rum barrel notes indeed. Some wooden notes. Slightly to light bodied/watery could be more full bodied. A solid and balanced beer.

Leicht säuerlicher Geruch. Würziger, trocken getreidiger und minimal säuerlicher Beginn. Verblasst hopfig, die Herbe ist noch deutlich präsent, insgesamt ziemlich un-bockig. Helles Holz, mit der Zeit durch den Alkohol schwerer, dennoch nicht unangenehm. Rund, der Hopfen kommt zum Ende besser zur Geltung. Gelungen. 8/9/10/10/11/10
