Draught @ Le Baradoz, Versailles after walking around the Chateau and gardens. Pours black, good beige head. Welcoming nose suggesting a layered malt depth which presents itself to taste, great malt character with a great hoppy side providing a nice counterpoint to the soft roast and coffee. Really good, satisfying india-style stout.

On tap at Hoppy Corner, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has soft toasted malt and some earthiness. Flavour is weak and watery, with thin toasted malt, some earthiness, and stale bread. Somewhat metallic on the finish. Not so good.

Bottle from the brewery. Fresh deep roasted nose. The beer starts intense deep. Roasted rich with a thick layer of roasted malts over a moderate bitter body. Very thick, deep roasted, very intense - coffee, liquorice, lots of roasted grain. Nice.
