Torst, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, nuttiness, slight amount of hops, and a bit of roasted malts. Taste has some hoppiness, chocolate, minimal sweetness, and some light bitterness. Well-balanced porter and actually pretty refreshing

From the February 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a growler this beer poured a black color with a medium sized soapy brown head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was moderate floral and fruity hops with a bit of sour malts and a touch of roastiness. The flavor was semi dry and toasty with notes of wood, faint cocoa and coffee. Medium length dry toasty and woody finish. Medium body. Meh.

Very dark brown beer. Crisp palate. Fresh minerally porter. A little sour dark malt but it’s non too heavy. Finishes crisp with more tangy sour dark malt. Light refreshing porter.

On tap during the 2010 Winter Solstice. Poured black with a yellowish tan head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of roasted malts with a slight coffee note and a dark grain and dark bread. Flavor was also full of roasted malts with some dark grains and chocolate and a bit of coffee in the finish.

On draft @ Kuhnhenn. Pours dark dark brown with tan head. The aroma is rather sweet with a mixture of sweet malts, smoke and cinnamon. Tastes like a sessionable Porter. Not too heavy. It has some up front malt sweetness and hints of yeasty spice. I also get a hint of fruitiness. About midway a dose of burnt malts, cinnamon and smoke take over the flavor. Could have a tad more burnt malts for the style but lots of interest in the flavor.
