AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nautical Nut Brown ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers.

12 oz can. Pours a dark brown color with a big beige head that soon recedes. The aroma is strong with roasted grains, caramel and bitter walnuts. The taste, like the aroma, featured well roasted grains, bitter nuts and some caramel. The palate was medium-light and was appropriate for the style. Finishes long with lingering bitter nuts. Overall: Decent brown ale, one my favorites in this much maligned category.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Aroma is malt, nuts, caramel, touch of coffee, some chocolate. Flavour is mildly sweet. Body is medium and a bit creamy. Very nice nutty Brown Ale.

355ml Can - Dark brown with red tinges and a tan head. Chocolate, raisins and some roasted notes in the aroma. Chocolate, earthy coffee and some roasted and toasted notes in the taste.
