Pours black as expected, with thin beige foamy head. Aroma is burnt and chocolaty. Taste is dark roasted malt and chocolate. Lingering bitterness on the palate. Nice!

375ml bottle. Black brown colour, thick foamy tan head leaving some lacing and aroma of roasted malt, dark fruits, slightly sour. Taste is sweetish, roast malt, coffee, chocolate, with alittle bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, some residual sweetness. Quite OK.

Bottle is a month pat it's Best By Date. Aroma is a balanced blend of chocolate and roast with a bit of a dark fruit ester like plums or prunes. There is a bit of an oxidized and stale character but it isn't too bad. Pours a dark brown with a thin, dark tan head that has fairly good retention. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is similar to aroma with the dark malts being balanced between chocolate and roast with sweet chocolate being more prevalent upfront. There is a bit of dark fruit with some cherry, plum and berry. Once the fruit and chocolate fades you are left with a fairly astringent, burnt coffee flavor. Low bitterness and no hop flavor. Malt character is a bit stale and oxidized but really not bad. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Astringency is moderate and there is medium low alcohol warmth. Overall this beer is better than expected and it has held up better than I would have expected. That being said, the astringency is a bit on the strong side and the eaters are as well. It's a fairly sweet stout as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque blacj stout, tidy tan head. Nice nose of chocoate. minerals and tangy malt. Softish palate but a carbonated bite lurks. Semi dry. Good start! Dry dark malt, traces of chocolate and a whisper of bubblegum. Finishes semi dry. Not roasty or bitter. Just a light and tasty stout.

Skyview Tasting, Nov. 11, 2011. One of those beers I have passed by hundreds of times, until it finally showed up at a tasting. I did not realize it was a foreign stout, otherwise I would have sought it out before. Dry. Lightly roasted grain and smooth palate. Black. No complexity really, a dark stout. Perfectly drinkable.

750 mL bottle. Pours black with a medium tan head and nice lacing. The aroma is nice milk chocolate, oak, earthy notes, and lots of roasted malts. The flavor is very sweet and roasty. The palate is heavy, syrupy, and smooth. The aftertaste is mildly bitter, and a little alcohol burning. Overall, this is an excellent stout. Well balanced and great flavor.

1pt 9.4 oz bottle from Safeway Salinas. Nose is chocolate with some tobacco, a little licorice and a sweet maple note. Clear, very dark brown with a big tan head. Flavor is tobacco, smoke, and chocolate. Absolutely fantastic for a $2.99 import.

Bottle. This is a survivor of an old Sydney brand (Tooth’s) made but unavailable in Melbourne. Very dark brown with a light tan head. Dark/ singed sugars, cheap chocolate, licorice, roasted barley, earth, weeds. Taste is pretty dry with fairly dull dark caramel and mild roast. More hop bitterness than expected, decent balance. Not bad at all.

750 ml bottle into snifter. Bought at a local supermarket. Pours impenetrable black with a medium beige head full of big ugly bubbles that collapses in a minute or so, leaving a collar of foam. Aroma is licorice, Whoppers, milk chocolate, raisins, alcohol. Taste is bittersweet. Finish is mineral-like, bready, dry. Carbonation is medium-high, body is medium-full, creamy mouthfeel. Tasty, but it’s lacking something unidentifiable that all the best stouts have.
