Clear deep red brown colour, good creamy light tan head, good retention and lacing. Aroma sweet roasted malts, yeast, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, syrup. Flavour medium sweet, light bitterness, spicy notes, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Finish sweetbitter, roasted caramel notes. On the sweet side but OK dubbel.

Dutch abbey beer, till 1952 brewed by the abbey itself. Tasted when the blonde version did not exist yet and it was simply called Gerardus Wittems Kloosterbier. Sticky, light beige, relatively stable head, colour deep, clear bronze. Aroma of caramel malts, banana, apple, strawberry, honey, sweet tobacco, liquorice, unfortunately some DMS as well. Light caramel malt taste, less body than expected from a dubbel, fruity, sweetish, rounded, some drying hops in the finish without becoming bitter. No less boring than e.g. Leffe Brune and the like.

Uitstekend donker bruin, bijna zwart bier. Smaak licht rokerig en licht bitter met zoet, caramel, chokolade. Blijft helaas niet lang hangen.

Catch up rating. Looks like a standard dubbel, dark amber/ruby with a slightly off white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of caramel malts, and some general dark fruity notes. Taste follows the smell really, some bready malts, sweetness and some fruitiness. Pretty good for a non-craft produced dubbel. Mouthfeel is medium to full, creamy and the carbonation is pretty low.

Poured a brown colour with a off white head. Aroma & Taste are: figs raisins, caramel, apple like fruits.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch nach getrockneten Früchten, Hefe, Karamell. Geschmack hefig, Karamell, Früchte, leicht gewürzig.

Average and standard Belgian dubbel. Malty, with dark fruits and a bit yeasty.
