(Keg at Cafe Thembi, Maastricht, 20130603) The beer poured deep dark brown and clear. Its head was quite large and lightly brown. Aroma had spices, caramell and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonaton. Flavours were malts, caramell, Belgian style yeast, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Not a good dubbel.

30cl bottle poured into a ’Leffe’ stemmed goblet @ home on 30 Dec 2012. Looks good: reddy brown body that’s clear and bright, on top a biege head that started thin but held well and gave some heavy lacing on the goblet Malty and fruity aroma and taste: starts sweet and ends fairly bitter and dry. A bit thin for a Dubbel body wise but not a bad brew. Hints of yeastiness throughout, but overall lacking enough flavour and ’umph’ for the style it is trying to portray.

Smaczne piwo klasztorne z Holandii. Jest niczym jak tego samego typu piwo z Belgii. Mocne rozgrzewające, ciemne i przyprawowe. Ogólnie smakował mi ten dubbel. Jedyne czego brakowało to drożdży na dnie butelki.

Bottle, thanks to Countbeer. Clear, dark ruby liquid with medium, foamy off-white/light tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, raw sugar, belgo yeast esters (banana, bubble gum), some alcohol, pumpernickel and light chocolate. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a bit metallic feel and notes of raw sugar and dark fruit. Quite apparent alcohol. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. All right but not outstanding.

30cl. botle at De Verleiding, Culemborg. Drank this in a bar and it was served way too cold so that could have influenced my tasting. The colour is reddish brown with an almost non-existent off-white head. no aroma whatsoever. taste is malty with a lot of caramel. not a very complex or rich dubbel but enjoyable anough after a winterwalk.
