Pale murky yellow body, with big white head and medium retention. In aroma coriander noticable present, banana also. No orange? Low to medium body, high lively carbonation. Bit thin, watery. Refreshing, but not satisfied.

330ml. bottle. Tasted several times during my trips to Belgium. [#3.855 Global - #134 Belgium - #2 Brouwerij Hoegaarden] Hazy lemon colour with a small white head. Poor retention, soft lacing. Aroma: Spiced malts, yeast and orange peel. Taste: Coriander, spiced malts, lemon peel and cardamom. Refreshing and easy to drink. Next one please!

Bottle at home. A straight down the line white beer. Actually it was very drinkable with plenty of flavour. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle from local Home Bargains store – cheap 79p ! Used to drink this a lot 20-25 years ago before in fell into the clutches of Inbev. Remember last tie I drank it (2014 my records say) being very disappointed. Anyway, it has an aroma of lemon peel with some spicy notes. Pours a cloudy pale lemon yellow with a small white head. Citrus dominates in the mouth, but not in a hoppy sense. Lemon peel, orange rind, coriander and other spices with a yeasty texture. Not much of a finish. A classic beer that has been dumbed down.

Trübe gelbe Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Hefiger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich hefig, fruchtig mit Koriander und Citrus, leicht getreidig. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

750ml bottle and my first Belgian Witbeir, well it had to be Hoegaarden didn't it!. Cloudy pale yellow with big foamy head that leaves a good retention. Aroma of yeasty banana, coriander and spice. Taste of wheat, fruity zest, mild spice and a decent malt base to hold it together. Lightish body but refreshing. I vaguely remember having this 10 years ago and finding it with too much flavour as a lager drinker. How times change! Very nice indeed.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Used to be a favourite when you could get it around here in pubs which is no longer the case.

Bottle pour from BevMax, Hamden. Appearance is hazy yellow with light sparkle, finger-plus width white foamy head with decent retention and light lacing. Aroma is wheat, fruity esters, mild banana, orange, coriander. Taste follows aroma with orange higher in the mix. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average, frothy carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a good representative of the style with decent complexity.
