Brewed to celebrate the anniversary of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion the ale proved to be so popular it has become a permanent addition to the range. Based on an eighteenth century recipe the ale is spiced with coriander which gives a remarkably fresh aftertaste.

Somehow I've never had this! It probably would've been cheaper in Scotland. Very interesting flavor, not so much the coriander itself but of everything together. This brewery has two full fridges of different dark beers. Would that I had time and money.

330ml bottle @Abc Thai, Vardø w/Karo & Kriston. Tawny clear body, ring at the rim of the glass. Roasted malts and coffee, anise, plum, dark berries, oak. Very inviting nose. Dark fruits, roasted malts, liquorice, chestnut and coriander, hint of yeast in finish. Anticipated a fuller body. Last bottle at Abc Thai in Vardø – what a (catholic) blessing!

Crystal clear dark ruby ale, thick off-white head. Smell has caramel, dried fruit, malt. Flavour follows suit. Caramel again, a nice malt profile, dried fruit, a bit of citrus zest which cuts through the richness a bit, a bit of bread and a bit of sweet but sharp spice too. Good body. Nicely balanced, warming, and very drinkable.
