Don’t just take our word for it, ask any fisherman and they’ll attest – it’s not only the trickle of trout that bites on the tranquil River Stour at Blandford.

Should you wade these waters on a warm summer’s night, beware the infamous Blandford Fly, whose bothersome bite can only be soothed with a spicy slice of fresh ginger.

A uniquely sweet and spicy golden ale with a refreshingly different ginger taste, offset with hints of sweet toffee.

500ml bottle at home (gift). Dark gold with a fair amount of lacing. Head is small. Scent of ginger and mulled spices with a bit of pee. Taste is sulphur-awful at first, then the sweetness of the ginger takes over. I don’t normally like ginger in my beer but this comes as a blessed relief. Gets better as I drink it, bordering on ok. I just don’t get on with this beer particularly well but not bad enough to drain pour.

Bouteille:Deep golden, nearly clear, small white foamy layer; sweet-bitter fruity to grainy nose with well detectable aromas of ginger in the Background; sticky MF, light to medium bodied, mainly sweet flavour; lingering sweet and light bitter finish with a slight ginger burn in the aftertaste. Oh no...

500ml bottle at home. Pours clear amber, no head. Aromas are light ginger, but watery. Taste is the same. Sweet ginger biscuits. Not really my thing.

(bottle) Clear, deep golden colour with a firm and short off-white foamy head. Biscuity cara-malt with notes of honey and hints of ginger spice. Quite sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Juicy malty taste with notes of biscuits as well as ginger spicy and fruity notes; sweet and juicy finish with present notes of ginger and a very restrained level of bitterness. Not so exciting. 01.X.13

500 ml bottle @ Lulworth Clove Inn. Clear, dark golden with a disappearing white head. Distinct and dominating aroma of ginger. Flavor is light and crisp malty with distinct ginger and moderate bitterness. Medium body and ginger in aftertaste. I love ginger, but hate it in my beer if it’s too overwhelming, this one is distinct and dominating, but just on the right side of the edge to not be overdone. A great achievement actually. Enjoyable in smaller amounts, one bottle is enough, but I will probably try it again in another occasion.
