All New Englanders have a special place in their hearts for the old, dilapidated covered bridge of their youth. Maybe you rumbled over one every day riding shotgun in the family’s rusted-out pickup truck, or maybe one stands out from some rustic vacation largely long-since forgotten. No matter the case, they remain a symbol of nostalgia and youthful exuberance, a figurative bridge to another time.
For the traditionalist, the sentimental at heart, we offer Robust Porter, our take on a style of beer that, like these bridges, has remained impervious to trends, stalwart in the face of change. One gulp and you’ll be teleported to a simpler time. To that, all we can say is, Cheers

Smells pungent and roasty. There is a little booze and some heavy coffee. Pours black with great lacing ad mocha head. Taste has a touch of sweetness and lots of roasty coffee bitters. Some good basement musk. Palate is pretty thick, rolls off tongue. Lots of goodness here. Bottle from Winooski bev.

35,5 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 25.03.2011
Aroma is a bit ashy with some licorice, coffee and chocolate. Flavour is rich, dry and bitter with ash, chocolate, some coffee and licorice. A brilliant Porter especially when looking at the ABV. Leaves your mouth dry and sticky.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a very very dark brown with about a finger of dark tan head. Aroma is mostly chocolate and a little bit of grassy hops. Taste is light biter. Mostly dark chocolate and coffee with some grassy hops. Full bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. I’ll have to pick up a 6-pack of this next time I go out!

Cask at GBBF. Opaque black beer. Light palate, a little crisp. Grassy spicy hops over a light touch of dark malt. Very tasty.
