Belgian Inspired Dark Ale
Originally conceived along the lines of a Belgian Dubbel, Hell Hath No Fury … Ale morphed during development into something entirely different. Brewed with Belgian abbey-style yeast, Hell Hath No Fury … Ale is more akin to a roasty stout, offering warm, roasted notes of coffee & dark chocolate with fruity and clove-like aromas.

Thanks to moejuck for this - very dark burgundy color, nearly opaque, with thick tan lace around the glass - the aroma is lightly smokey, with some plum, light spice and floral notes, and dark chocolate - moderate roasted malts in the flavor, with hints of chocolate, coffee, caramel, dark fruit flavors - fairly thick mouthfeel for this style - finishes slightly bitter, to cut the sweetness, with lingering smoke - quite a hefty, tasty interpretation of the style.

This is very good. The beer is black, and there is a thick khaki colored foam on top. One of the thickest and darkest dubbels I have had. Aroma is malt, light smoke, and some fruit. Flavor has charcoal, well done roast beef, sweet malt, some fruit and very light hops. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Pours dark brown, almost black, with a medium light tan head that dissipates to a compact leftover. Thin rings of lacing. Smoked aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Medium-bodied with a smoky character, and roasted malt, dark fruit and coffee flavors. Some figs as well. The finish is malty and fruity with a lingering roasty aftertaste. Very good overall.

12 oz Bottle Pours out a very very dark brown. Topped with a small tan head. Some sweat smoke and roast chocolate. Pretty good. Thanks Indiana_Red

tap - This one made me think Belgian Strong Ale more than anything, but a Dubbel? Alright. It’s dark brown with a thin head. Flavor is of dark fruits and malt with a dry finish. The palate is full bodied with slight yeasty bitterness in the finish. And hey, it has a great name.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Deep brown (pretty much opaque) body with a thin, dissipating off-white head. Orangey-red highlights at the edges. Toasty aroma with residual sugars and dark fruit, light because the beer was served too cold. Flavor was initially quite dry and toasty with plenty of chocolate, giving the beer an English Strong Ale feel, but as the beer warmed the vinous red grape finish opened up along with hints of cola, licorice, and bready yeast. Cherry flavors also developed at warmer temperatures. Alcohol was evident in the finish. Another excellent beer in the tap room.
