Cask at Half Moon, Darlington. Golden amber colour, white foam head leaving some lacing and malty grainy aroma. Taste is malt, caramel, grainy, biscuit with woody notes, almost roasty & smokey, and some underlying citric bitterness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, drying bitter finish. OK

On cask at the Sun Hotel in Warkworth. Added this as a Bitter as it wasn't dark enough for an amber ale. The taste makes me think that there may be a possibility of spice/herb/vegetable but lack of information means the larger catch all of Bitter would be safest style. Appearance - golden with a decent lacy head. Nose - something that reminds me of spruce and something a bit like wood spice. Biscuit malt and citrus hops in there somewhere too. Taste - more of the same. Spiced biscuit dominates. Palate - light to medium bodied. Crunchy texture. Nice finish. Overall - enjoyable.
