Smaakbeschrijving

From the sterk Amsterdam, opening it the last week at home after a long day of work. Personally, it was a great beverage, not too smocked and this one is rather mineral and roast for a smocked imperial stout, subtle, boozy, a bit fruity, finish with hop, 15.12.21.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is peated malt, roast, fairly subtle smoked malt, typical Jopen liquorice, dried fruits, raisins, caramel, candy, some cocoa and a slight touch of cofee. Flavour is sweet and light to moderate bitter. Full bodied. Nice, but has a lot of that liquorice Jopen (and not me) is so fond of.

Süffiger, malzig herber Beginn. Fein röstig, leicht herb, süffig. Spritzig, die Mlazigkeit steigert sich, der Alkohol wird mit der Zeit erkennbar. Schokoladig, geringe Fruchtigkeit, mittellanger Nachhall. Gut. 10/11/11/11/8/11

Draft. A black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of peated smoke, iodine, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, peated smoke, and iodine, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Draught @ Highlanders bar, Aarhus as Jopen Onheilsprofeet 11,0% ABV - Double checked with the tender. Pours clear very dark brown with tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, dusty notes, bread, little fruit. Flavor is sweet, malty, caramel, bread, sweet dried fruit, alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol. More like a poor barley wine than Imperial stout. 130919

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy black with a lasting, unstable, foamy, beige head. Aroma of rum-soaked raisins, green apple, dates, gravy, molasses, creamy coffee, smoked fig, cigar tobacco. Taste is medium malty sweet, quite fruity, dates & raisin on a chocolatey & creamy base, slightly sourish underneath, faint umami notes of olive, gravy & beef jerky pointing more towards a roasted bitterness of fondant & mocha rather than to genuine smokiness. Dry, earthy hoppy finish, lingering raisin, tobacco, chocolate, subtle smoke, and a good dash of warming alcohol (bit rum-, bit whisky-like). Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Subtle smokiness all in all, but a good and balanced Imperial Stout anyway.
