Introducing Numero Uno Summer Cerveza, our just-released summer seasonal that begs for warm temps and long nights. Originally released as Agave Cerveza in the summer of 2014 as part of our Brewhouse Rarities program, it’s the artisanal answer to the easy-drinking, south-of-the-border slammers the younger versions of ourselves knew and loved.
Flaked maize makes up one third of the malt bill and highlights the distinctive corn and cracker flavor traditionally found in Mexican lagers. Agave is added at the end of the boil and the lime peel post-fermentation to impart a distinct, zesty character and a crisp, clean finish. Your new Summer Cerveza clocks in at 4.9% ABV.

33 cl bottle at La tienda de la cerveza, Madrid, served in tasting stemmed glass. It pours pale clear golden, whitish short-lived head. Aroma is lemon, lemon drop, lemon soda, lemon fizz. Mouthfeel is fresh, nice carb, no bitterness at all. Long refreshing finish. Simple yet nice in its simplicity.

355ml bottle, as Agave Cerveza, 4.9 % abv. kindly shared by Finn. Filmy white layer leaving spotty lacing down the glass, clear straw coloured body. Lightly spiced fruity nose. Lime, apples and juicy malts to the flavour profile. Oily hops to the ending. Soft carbonated. So and so. (Rating session at Finn’s in Tromsø, 18.05.2017).

330nl can from Tesco - Clear gold, no head. Taste and nose is overpowered by a false sweetener, leaving a furriness on the tongue.

33cl can from Tesco, Warfield. A flat-looking, straw coloured pour with a ring of white bubbles; some lime juice on the aroma; dry with a grainy body, some lime; and a sticky finish. Not very exciting.
