500ml bottle from the Surtees Arms, Ferryhill. Amber brown colour with a slight reddish tinge, tan foamy head leaving lacing and aroma of malt, roasted, fruity. Taste is roasted, malt, chocolate, bready with some berry fruit & earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry tangy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Aroma of roasted malt, fruit, caramel, hops, light chocolate, berries, prunes and a hint of leather. Light sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, bit above average carbonation. Dry, malty, fruity finish. Quite traditional, pretty enjoyable, if a bit too carbonated.
