Draft at Craft & Draft. Clear golden orange with a white head. Aroma of malt, old socks, citrus, paracetamol, sweat and caramel. Flavour is above light sweet and bitter with a touch or sourness. Above medium bodied with soft carbonation.

American style barley wine from (formerly) Danko’s CAP brewery, at Craft & Draft. Creamy, lacing, snow white, more or less stable head over a hazy peachy yellow blonde beer, lighter in colour than I am used to from the style, looking very much like a Belgian tripel. Aroma of banana bread, yellow kiwi, white bread crumbs, bitter honey, white wine, flowers, green tea, orange peel, white pepper. Fruity onset with hints of pineapple, passion fruit and banana, soft sourish gooseberry-like undertone, softish carbo, fluffy and full mouthfeel, bready malt body with a certain graininess to it as well as light honeyish sweetness, but not as vinous as expected; long spicy, grapefruity, herbal hop bitterness in the finish as well as gin-like, warming alcohol. Pleasant enough sipper, but actually much closer to a firmly hopped tripel or even a very strong ’Belgian IPA’ than to a real American barley wine.
