Cask at Hops, Crewe – now brewed by 4Ts. Pours “bitter brown” with a small frothy off-white head and good lacing. Malts to the fore in the aroma, with just a trace of traditional hops. In the mouth it is sweet with a watery texture, but some bitterness soon starts to come through. Flavour has traditional hops and caramel plus hints of summer fruits and grains. Finish is a bit more bitter and slightly dry. This is reasonable, but somewhat bland to say the least.

Cask sample from Hull Beer & Cider Fest 2019, courtesy of Grumbo. Cheers Graham! Amber colour, afew bubbles on top and roasty malty bready aroma. Taste is malty, bready, sweetish, some roasty notes, toffee, and mellow hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi-dry malty finish. Quite OK.

Light brown colour with light haze and creamy head. Aroma and flavour have lots of toasted malts and even a little cocoa bitterness.
