Bottle pour. Jet black with minimumal tan head. Boozy aroma. This beer is very smooth with caramel, vanilla bean, and a little mocha. Definitely tasting the bourbon as well. Rich, chocolate bourbon finish. For a beer this high in abv its extremely drinkable and smooth. A must try beer.

Bottle (2014, 14.83& ABV) poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours jet black with an oily consistency. Half a finger of tan head that fades into a ring. Aromas of bourbon, dark chocolate, roast. Tasting notes of dark fruit, bourbon, dark chocolate. Full body with a warm and dry finish. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Maybe my palate has developed but I enjoyed last year’s release much more.

12 ounce bottle. A major want! Pours a pure black color with a small brown head after a big, initially pretty frothy. A great nose of cocoa, barrel and dark chocolates. Big flavors of more chocolate, intense sweet dark fruit, bourbon, more oak, some red win type notes, heat, oat. Loads of sweetness and heat, but damn it is good.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with fast dissipating, small tan head. Aroma of wood, coffee, licorice, vanilla/bourbon, leather, oats, dark fruit, raw sugar and bitter chocolate. Taste is very sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, licorice, chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit. Full bodied with low carbonation. Quite a bit of alcohol. Very nice still.

From a bottle at Fresh Craft in Denver, shared with Kermis and jmgreeneuk.. Batch no. 2. Pours black with a slight tan head. Aromas of plums and dark cherries. Flavors of dark stone fruits with hints of bittersweet chocolate, bourbon and vanilla. Intensely boozy with a lingering alcohol finish.
