Bottle pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up molasses sweetened dark roasted malts, chocolate and mild booze. The taste delivers smooth sweetened dark roasted malts, chocolate, some chocolate fudge, black licorice and modest restrained booze. Solid sipper

Many thanks for sharing, Chris! Deep dark brown colour some beige lacing; aroma of extremely intensive alcohol, Bourbon barrel, some coffee and maybe herbal notes; taste is the same with very intensive alcohol.

0.355l bottle, thanks to Cristobal37. Black body, thin light brown head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, whiskey, pepper and sour cherry. Taste of chocolate, sour cherry, caramel, toast, wood and some smoke. Strong for sure, but not that strong what you would expect from a 17 abv beer.

4600th review! 12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/19/2016. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Insane appearance. Aromas of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge brownie, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of raisin, prune, date, licorice, tobacco, soy sauce, smoke, char, and roast/oak earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge brownie, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of raisin, prune, date, licorice, tobacco, soy sauce, smoke, char, and roast/oak earthiness. Moderate roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge brownie, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, toasted oak, dark bread dark fruit, licorice, smoke, char, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying or astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spice, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a smooth, creamy/silky/slick, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is well hidden; warming finish with and some light booziness lingering. Overall this is an insane barrel aged imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth to sip on slowly for the huge ABV. Enormous amounts of barrel character, but plenty of malt to back it up; without being too dry or boozy on the barrel notes. An insanely amazing offering.

355 ml, bottled Feb 13 2015.
Black body, with a small, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of bourbon, coffee, cocoa, liquorice, dark chocolate, caramel, subtle dark fruits, alcohol.
Taste follows this, except that it is much more alcoholic.
Medium, quite creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes boozy, roasty-bitter, a bit dry, with coffee, liquorice, cocoa.
Very nice, although not outstanding in my opinion. Tastes too boozy for my liking, but still really nice, complex stuff. Overall an enjoyable sipper, but not among my favourite Imperial Stouts.

355 ml bottle at home from trade with RobertDale. Thank you very much Bob!! Black color with dark beige head. Roasted malty aroma, dark dried fruits, chocolate, mocha, light coffee, cocoa, light vanilla, wood, alcohol. Sweet and bitter like aroma. Full silky creamy body with soft carbonation. I wish it had less alcohol and that I could find it easily in Greece!!

Don’t pick up much of the bourbon in the aroma, but it really comes through in a balanced aesthetic way in the flavor. Everything works here. Not just a strong stout, but an imperial, and you know it. Yet, it’s sooo smooth and almost easy drinking. Hope I can find more locally.
