Bottle. A- Cherry, coconut, bourbon, boozy, oak. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Bourbon, coconut, vanilla, boozy, dark fruits, burnt caramel, butterscotch. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bold finish. O- Sat on this one for just over a year and probably could have sat on it another year to tame it even more. Very booze/bourbon forward. Crazy expensive too. Maybe a little too bold. If it would mellow out it’d be great. Or even lose the barrel aging. And those are words I never use.

4oz pour for $6, I feel like that’s a bargain  Well, I like to give these uber Avery beers a try. As per usual they do a better job than others... like the Bruery, who suck. Draft has decent head. This feels less sweet than Meph but I haven’t had that in a decade, so who the fuck knows. Definite burn on this, duh. I miss the bourbon and coffee of Tweak. Only light autolysis, bitter malts but not too bad. Surprisingly little sweetness. It’s alcoholic but I actually miss some of the other over-the-top characteristics that go with this uber strong impy stout, I mean, go big or go home. I guess this is the balanced version of a 17% imperial stout. Obviously, 4oz is plenty enough.

Black. Boozey aroma. Sweeter than the meph, and some dried fruit quality. Alcohol is hidden in the flavor. Heavily roasted mal. Excellent beer. Thanks Brian.

(355ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours pitch black with an average dark tan head fading to a tight ring with lace. Aroma is a rich molasses core draped with loads of vanilla, bourbon, toffee, coconut, a bit of chocolate sauce, fairly light roast, leather, hints of dark fruit and pipe tobacco, booze not completely masked. Palate is intense as expected! Molasses and over-sugared coffee core, figs, dates, bourbon in heaps, chocolate sauce, vanilla, slight coconut, charred wood, peppery alcohol heat, bitter anise, fortified wine and oxidation towards the finish. Lots of alcohol warmth from the middle on but it isn’t very harsh. Body fairly thick, low viscosity oil style, soft carbonation. Surprisingly nice and complex despite the barrel presence and outright alcohol. Not easy to drink except as a slow slow sip, but a really good strong stout.

Bottle from Harrington Liquors. Solid black color with a decent sized frothy tan head that shows great retention. Big roasty molasses with complex dark and dried fruit. Earthy with hints of vanilla and sweet bourbon. Light warming alcohol as this pushes down my gullet. Light sherry like oxidation in the finish. Great sipper, alcohol never gets harsh, but this will sure warm you on a cold night.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Perfectly black, small beige head. Licorice, vanilla and brandy up front. Sweet with huge body and rounded mouthfeel. Intense flavour of fine slivovic, coffee syrup, madeira, vanilla and licorice. Heated raisiny finish. Retains balance, even with near infinite gravity.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon, light vanilla and some caramel. Similar taste. Sweet and with a thick body. The finish was long and with well hidden alcohol. A nice one to sip.
