From bottle to tulip. Thanks to Anne for the bottle from the brewpub. Overt vanilla, prominent molasses and rye with strong alcohol presence on the nose. Moderate alcohol heat. Pours deep, deep brown with brown highlights. Large brown head with minimal lacing. Taste is molasses, chocolate and fig. Faint tar, bourbon and mole sauce. Viscous pour covers the mouth like a velvety tapestry. Finishes surprisingly quickly. As it warmed, the alcohol was more pronounced.

Poured from the Howler(32oz), black brew, minimal head of tan foam that leaves the scene quickly. Cost, $25.99
Nose tells me there’s a lot of Bourbon, roasted malt, dark chocolate, pitted fruit, some coffee. Smells uber strong.
Bourbon, chocolate, and roasted malt envelop my palate. With a bit of nudging, the dark fruit..plums & raisins, come out to play. The coffee I mentioned is very very light, err, perhaps I’m not getting any at all; the other flavours are THAT strong and THAT dominant.
The body is on the high end of medium, carbonation checks in as fairly light but there’s no mistaking this brew as flat.
Powerful brewski here and though the taste isn’t as "hot" as it could be, once it goes down the hatch, it brings a heck of a lot of warming.
As much as I love this beer, I don’t feel the need to get more...

Bottle. A couple years old. Huge marshmallow nose, chocolate, vanilla, port. Airy, ethereal body, full yet light and airy. Very sweet and boozy chocolate marshmallow smores. Sticky finish. A bit too sweet and overwhelming, but pretty great.

Batch no 4. Bottled Feb 13, 2015.
This was poured into a mini snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin concave lacing after a one finger off white head dissipated within about a minute.
The smell had a sweet bourbon with nice roasty notes and a smooth sticky chocolate with an underlying gently smokey oakiness.
The taste was sweet and roasty smooth leading into a big super smooth roasty aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with sticky notes strolling over my tongue. Carbonation was felt nicely.
Overall, I say this was a wonderful bourbon barrel stout that I would definitely have it again.

Brown, beige head. Aroma is somewhat green, nice healthy toffee, bit of ashes. Probably needs more time before all characteristics come out. Taste has some raw chocolate, coffee liquor, sweetness also there. Alcohol intense but still wouldn’t say it’s almost 17 percent. Nice long-sipping beer. Sweet, spicy, vanilla, bourbon, good stuff. Bit too fresh maybe, would love to try the aged version in the future.

Pitch black color. A bit too rough, dark chocolate with a fair amount of oak. Sweet malty mouth with lots of tooties rolls. Very sweet. Still a bit too rough to rate properly. I would like to revisit in a year or two.

35,5 cl bottle (16,53%) @ lusikka
Aroma is very sweet with bourbon tones, alcohol, licorice and strong bourbon tones with vanilla. Flavour has sweet vanilla tones, licorice, bourbon and some saltiness. Some pleasant warming alcohol in the last sips. Nice slow sipper, but you’re gonna need a long movie for this one.
