‘1814 gave us London’s last ever Frost Fair'
Held on the frozen River Thames, and scene to probably its only elephant crossing. Scholars say the gathering would be seen as a cross between a street market and an illegal rave. We say this is the perfect Hawkes homage to a long gone but awesome winter party.
Deep amber colour in appearance, with warm winter spices that deliver a kick of cinnamon and cloves. Pleasantly sweet, with a smooth finish. Perfect enjoyed both hot as a mulled cider, or served cold.

14/3/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours hazy golden with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of toffee, apple, cinnamon, biscuit and clove. Heavy sweetness and slight tartness. Moderate body, oily sticky texture, average carbonation. Warming finish. Quite ok.

Half-pint shared with Finn at Scottish Stores. Cloudy golden, filmy layer, no lacing. Modest, mid-sweet apples on the nose. Rather sweet taste of apples and pears, lightly spiced. Way too sweet finish. Flat. So and so. (London 07.02.2020)

Bib @ danlo tasting. No head. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich apples, cinnamon, cloves and has a nice cinnamon apple finish.

500ml bottle from Hawkes. Slightly hazy yellowy gold colour, white foam head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of cinnamon, spice, cooked apple. Taste is sweet, tangy, apple, with spices, cinnamon & clove. Slick mouthfeel, medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, spiced tart finish. Quite drinkable.

Keg at brewdog Lothian road. Pours golden orange, nose is apple pie, clove, cinnamon, taste is more of the same, sweet, warming.

Keg at the cider. A hazed golden orange coloured pour with no head. Aroma is sweet brown muscadado sugar, nutmeg. Cinnamon,, Christmas spices. Flavour is composed of pretty sweet sugars, Christmas spices z nutmeg, cinnamon, appple,. Works pretty well.. Balance is good. Palate. Nice. is very sweet, moderate to low carbonation. Nice.

Pint at the Bermondsey brewery. Aroma of soft vegetable with big apple sweetness. Has no foam but a cloudy orange body. Flavour is odd sweetness, rhubarb apple and pear. A big mix of fruitiness with spice in there like cinnamon. Very sweet and sugary. It's unique and very sweet, so you better be into that.
