Nice big stout. Packing a bigger punch than the 9.2%. Good quality beer. Not the most pure clean, dry and bitter, but balanced. Forders ams

Bottled almost a year ago. Pours a pitch black colour and a brown head with little retention. Aroma's of roasted malts, a bit umami, molasses, tar, a bit alcoholic. Retronasal it's roasted coffee, umami, tar, somewhat fruity sour. Flavour is moderate bitter and light sweet, roasted. Medium bodied. Long finish, heavy roasted, ashy, quite bitter.

On tap at Foeders, pours black with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out soy sauce, with low roast and a touch of balsamic. Flavour brings out charcoal, soy sauce, and a touch of toasted malt. Lacking body and depth. Meh.

Black with a small beige head. Aroma of roast, licorice, dark chocolate and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation.

Imperial stout by this Amsterdam craft brewery, bottle at GIST in Brussels. Mousy, yellowish beige, slowly opening head lacing in shreds over an opaque jet black beer. Aroma of hot black coffee, burnt toast, hard caramel candy, toasted walnuts, old liquorish candy, glue, paraffin even, dried bladderwort, old brownies, charcoal, beef stock. Sweetish onset with notes of dried elderberries, dried fig and raisin, light beef stock-like umami presence, mild carb, dry middle, toasty bitter, black chocolate and hard caramel, restrained in sweetness and shifting even more towards bitterness in the end, when dusty, somewhat ashy old coffee grounds roastedness and peppery, rooty hop bitterness take over; lots of warming, whisky-like alcohol too, a bit wry in the end. Rather earthy yeast notes as well. An earthy, roasty, somewhat crude example of the style, not the best representative of it even among the new wave of Amsterdam brewers, but enjoyable still.
