Aus der Flasche (bottled 05-2025) im 2021-12 getrunken. Dieses gelb, trübe Sour Ale kommt mit einer moderaten Säure und typischen helle Trauben- und Citrusaromen daher.

Winny, winogronowy, taniczny, ewidentnie brettowy acz na grzecznie, sianowato... mozna by go pomylic z lambikiem z winogronami, acz niekoniecznie z jakims zajebistym, niemniej jak dla mnie niedocenione to piwo albo mam farta do butelki.

Tap at mini-CBH, Oljenkorsi. Color is cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Dryness, hay, fruits, lemon, some vineous elements and malts. OK!

Bottle opens silently. Light haze on this gold beer, a few off white bubbles circle the rim of the glass. Palate is light and has a reasonable fine minerally crispness. Thought it would be flat, so this is a bonus. Tart white wine, sharp grape, not quite lemon acid toned but flirting with it. A little vanilla barrel underneath, softens a lot. Light semi dry crisp finish. Not a huge Brett presence here. The tart white wine is refreshing, for a bit, I think possibly, by the end of the bottle, some acid reflux may be lurking. A mixed bag but unapologetically tart white wine, kudos for that.

ABV: 8.6%. Light cloudy medium yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, brett, leather, funk, yeast, grapes - wine - barrel. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, grapes - wine - barrel, funk, tart, wood. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20190927]

Anglo-Saxon style farmhouse ale (rather than 'saison' but that is a different issue) with grapes, aged on wine barrels. Comes from a 37.5 cl bottle with crown cap and classy label, bought from BeerFreakChick. Thinly mousy, egg-white, quickly opening and loose head, in a few instants reduced to a disparate, waferthin ring around the edge of a misty peach blonde beer with 'dirty' orangey-brownish tinge (I assume from the barrels). Aroma of grape seeds or even grape seed oil, old dusty oak wood, grass silage, wild apples, dandelions, dry white wine, wet leather, classic 'Bretty' horseblanket, red wine vinegar. Tart, fruity onset, sour apples and unripe green plums enveloping a sweetish white grape core, relatively soft in carbonation but still with minerally side effects; bit resinous, bread-crusty malt body dried by ongoing tartness, a tad lemony at first but softening further on, yet maintaining these green pear, unripe stone fruit and gooseberry accents till deep into its vinous, quite complex finish in which tannins from both the wood and the grape seeds play an important part. 'Wild' Brettanomyces effects come to full glory in the end, too, with that typical 'horseblanket' quality, followed by an earthy and hayish hop bitter touch which manages not to interfere too much with both the sweet effects of the wine and the tannic effects of the grape seeds - with more of the wine stepping forward in the end. Delivers entirely what it promises as a 'Bretted sour with grapes aged on wine barrels' so to those seeking just that, this will not be a disappointment. Quite a complex, elegant beer with near-lambic-like features, entirely what I was hoping for. La Calavera may not be Spain's most famous craft brewery, but so far they have not let me down - though I admittedly have been spending a bit more attention to their beers after meeting the friendly and experienced brewer during a tap takeover here in Ghent. Recommended.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a slight orange hue and a bubbly head that dissipates quickly and completely. Aroma has a lot of brett with a dry wine note and a bit of oaky wine supporting. Flavor has lightly tart grape and oaky funk with a bit of sweet grains underlying.

Sampled at Borefts Beer Festival 2019, day 1. Hazy golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste wel hmm… dry…moderately sour…#Garvie style rating….a bit floral…ok.
