This is a bigger and bolder version of our classic imperial stout Idjit. So, what does that make this beer then? An imperialer (it’s a word) stout? A more imperial stout? Let’s just say it’s big. Big idjit!

For a long time, almost since our very beginning, we’ve brewed our iconic imperial stout Idjit. We’ve not only brewed the regular version but barrel aged versions, putting it in everything from whisky to bourbon barrels. We’ve done a Christmas version and even a half version in which we cut the ABV down a bit. What we’ve never done (commercially) is a maxed out version. Well, until now that is. We’ve wanted to do this beer for a long time, an Idjit with extra everything. A straight forward big, bigger, biggest imperial stout. No fuss, just thick malty loveliness.

On tap at The Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Black beer lasting tan head. It's a big oily molasses dry date impy stout. Smooth. Easy drinking. Huge impy. Good though. Delivers abv well. Date molasses fruit cake. Pretty good. I can see why so many people like it. Burnt toast. Baked raisins

Keg at the Bottle Shop - Bermondsey. Pours deep black with a modest, creamy yellow-tan head. The nose has some torched wood, vanilla, burnt marshmallows, chocolate, raisins. Big sweet flavour with a little bourbon, more vanilla, chocolate, ash, dark malt, scorched earth, baking cocoa, mild coffee. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Somewhat warming in the finish, with rich burnt toast, bread, more hearty chocolate, mild earthy-ashy bitterness, cocoa, dried fruits, raisins in particular. Pretty outstanding overall. Great depth, relatively high drinkability. Big fan I am.

Svart med fingerhøyt beige skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, noe floralsk lukt mot besk løvetann, mørk sjokolade og nøtter. Fyldig. Balansert smak. Espresso, brent karamell, mørk sjokolade, salt lakris, nøtter og alkohol. Lang. Lakris og alkoholen sitter lengst. Oljete.

Nearly back, small and thick light beige head. Dark caramely and boozy aroma. Coffee and nuts. Similar flavour, a lot of coffee, more nuts. Sweet and pretty boozy.

Bottle @ St. Patrick's Gone Mad, Sønderborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of coffee and tiramisù, with notes of yeast. Bitter, roasty and coffelike onset with notes of sugar and malt and touches of dust. Sweetish aftertaste with roasty hints. Good.

Bottle, 12%. Coffee and paint thinner. Dark brown colour. Small stable dark brown head. The flavour is quite sweet and has a good coffee note. Does not taste of the paint thinner that it smells of. Sugary, but not too sweet. Thick and sugary mouthfeel, too, of course.

Bottled 330ml (Beergium)
Opaque colour, medium-sized beige creamy head. Toasted nose has cocoa and coffee. Also some fresh wood. Full-bodied, soft palate. Flavour has same elements than nose: toasted maltyness, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits, fresh wood. Hides ABV reasonably well but is warming in the aftertaste. Nicely balanced.
