In collaborating with Stillwater Artisanal we always focus on distinct, clear, punchy flavors. This beer is no exception. Inspired by everyone’s favorite candy, this is a chocolate bar in a bottle. Unwrap!

We’ve brewed a lot of beers with Stillwater Artisanal. Before this one, we’d done six. All sours. So, when discussing our seventh collaboration, we knew we wanted to do something different. Choice fell on a big, thick, creamy stout. So far so good, but how do we approach a stout? What, other then sourness, is it that makes a Dugges/Stillwater collaboration? Clarity and directness was what we found. Choose a path and stay on it to the end. Decide upon one thing you want to bring forward and then do it to the max. Having already decided on a stout, maxing it with chocolate was a given. We wanted a beer that was equal part childhood dessert and candy bar. Brian came over from the US, we brewed the beer and the rest is chocolate. As all things are now. Chocolate.

From bottle, thanks to Giannis. Dark brown color with brown head. Malty aroma, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, creme brulee like. Sweet and light bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

7.49 11.2 oz bottle from wine warehouse. Pours thick dark brown with only a dusting of a head. Fucking amazing aroma. Damn. Sweet, luscious chocolate frosting, vanilla, coconut, light sweet fruit. Flavor is awesome as well. Sweet chocolate, vanilla, coconut, alcohol. Damn. This is one of the best I’ve had in awhile. Worth the price tag.

Bottle from Val-U. Pours a milk chocolate looking brown with almost no head. Huge cocoa powder nose with milk chocolate, caramel, Tim tams and vanilla icing. Flavors really meld well. Chocolate milk-like texture, smooth and rich. Lowish carbonation. Creamy and smooth finish with lingering cacao nib, cake icing and caramel. Very much like a liquid tim-tam.

330 ml bottle into snifter, best before 6/30/2021. Pours murky/dense very dark brown color with a small light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge milk chocolate syrup, cocoa, caramel, toffee, ice cream, vanilla frosting, brown sugar, marshmallow, brownie batter, fudge, and molasses; with lighter notes of smoke, toasted dark bread, coffee, char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, coconut, and vanilla notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk chocolate syrup, cocoa, caramel, toffee, ice cream, vanilla frosting, brown sugar, marshmallow, brownie batter, fudge, and molasses; with lighter notes of smoke, toasted dark bread, coffee, char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Very mild roast/char bitterness on the finish. lingering notes of milk chocolate syrup, cocoa, caramel, toffee, ice cream, vanilla frosting, brown sugar, marshmallow, brownie batter, fudge, molasses, light coffee/smoke, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, coconut, and vanilla flavors; with a solid roasted bitter/sweet balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/rich, and fairly slick/syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal chalky roast or dryness. Zero warming alcohol for 11.5%. Overall this is a fantastic dessert imperial stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, coconut, and vanilla flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on; despite the very rich, sweet, and heavy finish. Really authentic tasting cake, fudge, and frosting flavors; while still feeling just roasty enough to be a stout. One of the sweetest tasting stouts I've ever had, but still doesn't feel cloying. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing experimental dessert beer.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head that diminishes quite quickly. Aroma is huge cocoa, huge vanilla and milk chocolate. Taste malts, milk chocolate all over the place, cocoa, vanilla all those flavors heavily coming through with a boozy somewhat bitter finish. It really feels -to me- the ABV is way too high for this sort of milk chocolate - vanilla forward kind of beer.
