Bottle from a downtown Melbourne Liqourland. Poured a clear medium amber with a short-lived fizzy white head. The aroma is toffee caramel malt, burnt treacle. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a crisp, earthy leather, mineral, metallic hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Golden copper colour with two finger white head. Distant malt nose. Medium carbonation. Slightly bitter watery taste with a bit of malt sweetness and a tiny touch of floral hops in the finish. No world beater but not bad. If this was brewed by 3 guys in a shed out the back of Bungendore people would rate it higher. But it’s made by the biggest company in Australia (Wesfarmers) so confirmation bias is a factor in most Steamrail ratings.

(Bottle). Clear amber brown with very little head. Aroma has hints of toffee, orange and seaweed. Medium light body with fine prickly carbonation. Taste is rather washed out; dark toffee foretaste with some peppery hints developing and a final modestly bitter finish. Overall it’s drinkable but bland and unexciting.
