Juniper beer by Keun, from a 75 cl bottle shared by tderoeck, thanks. Loose, off-white, large-bubbled and unstable head but not representative, as the bottle had been opened for a period of time; hazy straw blonde with somewhat champagne-coloured hue. Aroma of perfumey, ethereal spiciness no doubt coming from the juniper, but reminiscent of lavender and peppermint as well (less resinous ‘conifer-like’ than I was expecting), honey, ripe pear, banana, sweetbread. Sweet onset, apple-ish with peach and banana notes, sweetbready and cereally malt body with a resiny edge to it referring to the conifer element, which develops an outspoken, yet still fairly elegant ethereal spiciness retronasally – again not just reminiscent of juniper or pine, but lavender and even lavender soap as well; ends sweet, a bit resiny and warming, with some alcohol glow and a mild peppery touch. I generally hate juniper in beer (too many Belgian brewers have done this in recent years due to that gin hype) but here it refrains from developing that harshly resiny, ‘moss green’, spicy effect and stays relatively soft and sweetish, in line with the general sweetness of the beer; I guess only young juniper berries were used? Anyway, too sweet a beer for me really, but I expected worse, too.

14/X/18 - 75cl bottle from a trade, shared @ Kasper's birthday party, BB: IV/2020, bottled: IV/2018, LOT 1806 - (2018-1579) Thanks to Bierridder_S for the trade!
Rather cloudy orange blond beer, big foamy creamy white head, stable, non adhesive. Aroma: spicy, yeasty, dry, bit malty, grains, hay. MF: very lively carbon, too much actually, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, spicy, yeast, some banana, little bitter which comes from the juniper berries? Aftertaste: bit spicy, peppery, grains, lots of yeast, banana, bitter, dry finish.
