Schramm’s Raspberry is a mead made from whole Michigan raspberries. The flavor is unmistakably fruity raspberry, reminiscent of Michigan summers, and is balanced by honey sweetness. Due to the high level of acidity from the berries, it can age gracefully for many years. A tribute to our home state’s strong fruit growing tradition, this was the first mead made by head meadmaker Ken Schramm. It holds a special place in our history as well as our cellar. This melomel pairs well with grilled Great Lakes salmon, salads, cheesecake, and summer evening bonfires by the lake.

At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of syrup, raisin, raspberry and sugar. Taste has sugary syrup, raspberry, soft tart and ripe fruit. This is actually quite nice.

Bright, yet deep, blood-red-raspberry with violet tinges, a touch of pectin-like haze perhaps.
Bright, vivacious raspberry fruit straddles the line between jammy and more refined, but it’s certainly jam-packed with aromatics, however you see it. A touch of waxen character and tons of black pepper phenol on the finish but otherwise clean with no booziness. Rich, intense, fully fruit-forward and yet with a nicely balancing acidity.
Rich and velvety in the mouth with well-fermented, deeper, more acidic and peppery juice notes mixing with soft, rich, vanilla-accented honey. Lovely acidity coats the back of the teeth, on the finish and the mead is nicely balanced, though very rich and intense. Alcohol is low and the mead is clean.

This Melomel pours a dark red color with a minimal head and sticky legs on the glass. Aroma of raspberries and honey. Full-bodied with a sweet-tart raspberry character and notes of floral honey and toffee in the background. The finish is fruity with a raspberry jam aftertaste. Very good all around.

Sample shared thanks to Benzai. Clear red with no head. Aroma of big floral honey, perfume, raspberry and assorted sweet but not artificial red berries. Flavour is heavy sweet with a light raspberry sourness. Above medium bodied with no carbonation. Lovely! [21-08-2016]

Sampled from mini mini growler-ish bottle [from trade with mnh9, thanks!] shared with kermis. Beautiful deep dark red to purple color, no head. Aroma is honey, floral, blossomy, red fruit. Taste honey, red fruits, sweet red and blue berries, sweet ripe red fruits mixed with honey and a nice floral note. Very well balanced mouthfeel and just very well balanced overall. Lovely!

Bottle 375ml. clear glass. [ As Schramms Raspberry ].Clear medium to dark red color with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to heavy honey, raspberry, tart berry, raspberry jam, toffee - fudge. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light acidic with a long duration, raspberry, honey, tart, alcohol. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20160624]
