A terrific balance of citrus, earth, honey & oak. The Brewmaster's favorite.

Tasting at Papsoe
Hazy amber color; small head. Very nice aroma, woody with some vanilla and light fruity sourness, dynamic, interesting. Medium body, some malt flavor, medium sweetness, light grape fruitness and delicate vanilla. Correct bitterness. A bit chalky at the end. Chaotic but also interesting.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of pepsican. Hazy amber golden with a small off-white head. Very delicious bourbon aroma. Medium-bodied with very dry caramel accents and some fruit. Distinct woody accents and a very dry finish. Yummy. 311008

75 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours hazy deep orange with a fully gone head. Dense spiced and wineous aroma. Light acidic and woody note in addition. Smooth wooden and mild fruity initially flavoured. Followed by a wineous and fruity flavour with a mild spice note beneath. Smooth and slight spiecd note showing through. Mellow finish.

Golden-bronze colour. Oaky, caramelly, complex...a knock out. Sweet, oaky, balanced. Nice alcoholic signature. Full value.

Medium yellow head; amber-foxy beer. Oak, vanilla, Bourbon, fruity esters. Mellow lactic & vinous taste, with brandy, coffee cream, terribly complex. Fruity flavour, as cherries lagered on oak. Very layered beer, well-bodied and viscuous. Excellent oak-aged beer (at least, that’s how it presents itself), complex as few other.

Bottle shared by notalush, gracious. This was probably the most surprising beer of the night. It has a very dark, almost orange, golden color. The aroma was a nice mix of funkiness and sweetness with some fruitiness at the end. Pretty awesome sweet funk. Taste I found to have lost the funk with light candi sugar and some sweet estery bubblegum. The body has some heft to it. The one issue I had was a sort of sticky-oily-sweet syrup aspect through the flavor, some in the aroma and felt in the body. Kind of like a sour beer was dumped from barrels, hand bottled, oxidized and then a small portion was blended with a good Belgian. Is that a weird analogy?

750 from valpoaj (thanks, man!), brewed Sept. ’06, bottled Aug. ’07 (I think) - hazy copper beer, with a frothy, lasting head - wonderful, full, complex aroma of leathery, bretty, funky/cheesy qualities, with mild fruit sweetness (cherries, citrus) and acidity hiding underneath (I could have smelled this beer all night) - very soft in the mouth - the flavor is not as sour as the aroma suggests - the leather, brett funk, and cheese character is there, but it takes a back seat to some candi sugar sweetness and some bright fruity character - quite earthy, with a mild lambic-like brininess far in the back - in another year or so this will be phenomenal, but even now it’s awesome - yea...I’m gonna need some more of this.
