It's summer, the sun is out and Half Mast is the perfect way to celebrate. An IPA with a quarter of the alcohol, but not lacking in the flavour, impact balance that you would expect from a Siren beer. This golden coloured IPA has a surprising malt base given it's strength, low bitterness, but it's popping with juicy mango and grapefruit. Truly the perfect summertime drink.

500 ml bottle from NK Saluhall, Stockholm.
Amber, hazy body, with a big, frothy, lacing, white head.
Juicy aroma of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruits, minty herbs, grass, some pine, some candy.
Tastes of grapefruit, tropical fruits, pine, minty herbs, some grass, some lemon candy.
Light, slick mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes bitter, dry, lingering piney, zesty, grassy, with some yeasty notes.
Really tasty for the ABV! Very sessionable, but also really aromatic, fruity and with a lovely piney hop bite. Light mouthfeel of course, but well balanced by a zesty bitterness and an almost Belgian like dry finish. Among my favourite Session IPAs I’ve had so far!

On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. This was 2.9%. Appearance - golden with a slight haze and a nice creamy head. Nose - lovely big mango note then grapefruit coming behind. Taste - more of the same but less rewarding than the nose. Palate - well it’s light and clean and tastes big for the strength, but as expected for the strength, it finishes quickly. Overall - yeah, a great session pint.

Litt stram citrusaroma. Enda bedre aroma enn smak.

Re-rate from bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 19.12.16. Clear golden. White head and lacing. Lively carbonation, Otherwise as before. Good quaffability. From tap at What’s Brewing smaksfest 14.11.14. Muddy straw colour. Foamy, off-white head, Aroma of green citrus, bordering to feline urine. Similar taste, with lime and freshly mowed grass. Medium carbonation. [7/2/7/3/13=3,2]

Bouteille 50cl @ Il Pretesto, Bologna. A 2.8%, super à boire.
