750ml rubber-corked bottle. Deep opaque brown with a lacy off-white head. Aromatic honey and sugar, spicy Belgian yeast tones. Pretty awesome, wasn’t sure what to expect when you see Imperial, but this is smooth a mellow, with no trace of harsh imperialness. Rich, but creamy and smooth brown malt tones, not unlike a Biere De Garde. The soft body is quite impressive, this is a world class beer. A touch soft on the carbonation, assumably from the closet aging, but it works.

Bottled. Unclear dark golden with an off-white head. The aroma sweet with notes of yeast, over ripe fruits, malt, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, vegetables, lightly tart and dry finish. More like a imperial Biere de Garde, not that exciting.

Bottled @ Olfestival 09 pre-tasting. hazy nutbrown color, short off-white head, lots of debris. Sweet and fruity sour aroma, apples. Dry fruity taste, almost cider. Bit yeasty. Very decent saison.

Dark amber color. Caramel cocoa notes, semi-sweet. Somewhat dubbelish rather than saisonish but that doesn’t really matter. Lightly fruity, lightly phenolic. Balanced and easy drinking even with some malty heft.

Bottle shared by hopscotch. Pours clear copper with a tan head. Biscuit malt aroma with Belgian yeast and some brett funkiness. Light bready flavor, brett, mustiness and some pepper. Body seems too light for the flavor. Lively carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. It is good, but the flavors just don’t seem to live up to the aroma.

Cloudy and amber. Funky nose with deep fruit (apple, pear) and some light clove. There’s also a mac & cheese note in the aroma, which makes no sense at all. Herbal, berryish (blueberry, boysenberry), funky light foot, alcohol, rich caramel, and spice...lots of stuff going on here. For all its complexity, though, it really is not very cohesive.

Pours brown into a snifter. Fluffy beige micro head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Pit fruit and pepper aromas. Crisp and well balanced. Fruity upfront with a dry hops and sour brett finish. Quite nice.

Pours a slightly hazy amber color - a little odd for the style, but no points lost here - lasting, creamy head on top - fairly soft on the palate for something with such lively carbonation - a bit zesty and herbal, with some bitter orange peel adding a tartness to it - a little sweet, with a kind of bready maltiness that again is odd for the style, but seems to work - quite earthy and subtle - pretty nice.

750ml bottle. This was not what I think of when I think of a saison. Slightly hazy amber pour with off-white, lasting head. The aroma is full of barnyard and leather with hints of feet and honey — not immediately appealing, though certainly complex. The flavor is slightly to mdoerately sweet and moderately bitter. Alcohol comes through in the flavor. The finish leaves a funky aftertaste that got better as the beer warmed. Medium body.

Interesting aroma of swampwater and wild yeast. It does have that yeasty, weirdness in the aroma. Flavor has yeast again. A little sweet. Mild hops, and lightly sour in the finish.
