Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color, almost black, with beige head. Light aroma of roasted malts. Good structure, with pleasant flavor of dark chocolate and roasted malts (just a bit too roasty for me), at least not too dry; correct bitterness.
Leaning a bit near Stouts, but quite good.

Growler from brewpub. Pours deep deep dark amber with nice mocha head and sheet lacing. The aroma has an initial burst of burnt malts. Quickly a mild malt sweetness coupled with chocolate malts intervenes for a moment before an earthy note mixes with the burnt malts to create a cigar ash sensation. Interesting. The taste begins like the aroma with solid burnt malts, charred malts and mild chocolate malts. About midway I get a mild vague fruitiness mixed with a mineral sense that seems a bit out of place. It ends with a load of burnt malts that run deep into the after taste.

Draught Very dark inky brown with golden sides; nearly no head. Sweet-inky, black autumn leaves, nuts, inviting nose. Very cigarette ash-y, dry black bread and roasted flavours. Dry, not full bodied but true to style. OK porter, I dig it.

Draught at the brewpub. Black. Coffee aroma. Fairly sweet. There’s plenty of grapefruity hops to go with the malt derived coffee and licorice flavours. Balanced bitterness. A really good porter!

On Nitro Tap at the brewpub. Dark brown but clear and dense cramy light tan head, thanks to the nitrogen. Wisps of sheeting lacing as I swirled the glass a bit. Moderate dark roasted flavors and a rich smooth feel. A nice offering.
