Bouteille 341ml. De couleur ambrée foncée et voilée. Nez de houblon citrique, légèrement hebreux et terreux, malté de caramel toffee, fruité (agrumes, traces de prunes rouges) ainsi que quelques notes épicées (poivre). Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement crémeuse et huileuse. Goût plutôt amer de houblon moyennement citrique et aux notes terreuses (qui dure toute la gorgée, avec des petites notes herbeuses) avec un léger goût fruité (agrumes, traces d’abricots et de prunes) ainsi que des traces d’épices (poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté moyennement sucré de caramel doux avec des petites notes de biscuit puis on assiste en finale à un regain d’amertume de houblon plus herbeux et asséchant. Post-goût assez long et un peu sec, moyennement amer de houblon citrique et herbeux aux faibles notes terreuses avec des notes fruitéess (zeste d’agrumes).

Originally rated December 2005. Purchased at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours a hazy caramel-amber colour with a tanned creamy head. Retention is quite long and lacing all around glass is great. The aromas are of caramel and molasse with hop in the background. The taste starts bitter, but gets more bitter in the finish to come back down to the starting point in the aftertaste. Coffee and notes of nuts lingers also in the aftertaste. Nice and smooth. Also in the flavours is burnt wood, oranges and butterscotch. A very nice complex brew.

Nose is caramelly, piney, and bready; clear dark red with a small beige head; flavor is hop bitterness, caramel, and earthiness; finish is bitter with a fishy note deep in the backgound the whole time as if I had been eating fresh caught and fried trout (which I haven’t had since last summer)

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Pours a hazy, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Fat, oily hop aroma. Very full - almost fat - body with lots of caramel and a distinct, hoppy finish. A very solid IPA. 140506

Smallish, light beige, normal head over chestnut brown body, vaguely hazy at the bottom of the bottle. Deep, sweet, malty aroma with caramel and cardboard notes. (Possible that the beer is a bit old.) Bitter, malty taste with roasty, hoppy aftertaste; malt somewhat toffee-like. Burnt toast lingering. Good, and interesting, but not great.

Clear nut brown, small tanned head. Very hoppy, glue-like aroma. Very hoppy flavor, a bit metallic notes. Good long hoppy aftertaste.

Deep amber body that supports a tall, creamy, off-white head. Piney aroma with some yeast. Good sweet malt and bitter hops, well balanced with a long, dry, bitter finish. Not too shabby overall.

A hazy amber beer with a light brown head. The aroma is of caramel as well as light notes of grass and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of grass and with an extreme dry end.

Dark chestnut, slight haze; thick miscellaneous yellowish head. Cookies, caramel and non-specific hops smell; also something meaty-yeasty going on in the background. Very prominent roasted taste, crème brulée, scorched caramel, going seamlessly over in the hops. There is, as MartinT says, something almondy underneath, even marzipany, held back however. Peppery not only in the taste, but even in the MF, rich body, slick. Strange. I feel uncharacteristically unsure about the marks given. One point less would seem to do it terrible injustice, one more would make it exaggerately overrated. En tout cas, je préfère la Cascade, René.

Deep copper-red body, thin cream clumping head. Very caramely aroma with light notes of earthy hops. The flavor is likewise slanted towards the malts, with caramel, brown sugar, and hints of light fruit balancing the earthy hops. Increasingly bitter finish as the beer is quaffed. Towards the end of the glass notes of tobacco leaf develop. More or less a low ABV American Strong Ale, along the line of Bear Republic’s Red Rocket Ale. Thanks Stephen (tiggmtl) for the bottle!
