Deep golden beer; small whitish head. Slightly smoked (pale) malts nose, bit grassy and drains water. Malt, malt cookies and grain. Warming up, a peanuts taste arrives. Rather sweet overall. A bit watery. The isles have much wind and good barley, but a lot of rain too, it seems. It’s not the most exclusive beer in the world, no doubt - but surely one of the most elusive. not any longer to me - thanks to a great Lubière!

2005 bottle. Clear, orange-copper-maize like color. One-finger white head rapidly dissipates to cover. Smells of lightly sour lager yeast and rich flavorful barley. Notes of corn and hints of oranges and earth. Flavor is, just ok. I have to say I was expecting more based on the aroma. Great malt, not too dry or too sweet, but gets a little cerealish/acidified on the end. Modest mouthfeel, not over-carbonated, no wateriness. Finishes with biscuits, dry dough/English muffins with a faint whiff of marmalade in the background.
