Sampled on draft at the World Beer Festival Richmond, 6/12/10. Pours a clear golden color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. The aroma is very fruity, including banana, citrus and tropical fruits, as well as yeast and bubblegum. The taste is spicy hops, spices, bubblegum and some dry fruit notes. Medium bodied. Quite drinkable. Nice beer.

Draft at WBF Richmond: Little aroma. Clear golden. Light apple flavor, grassy finish. Not as multi-dimensional as I hoped.

Draught. Poured golden brown with medium white head. Light malt and caramel aroma. Medium flavour, with a bit of spice and a bit of sugar. Yeasty finish, but overall rather thin in body and finish.

Tap, City Beer Store. Not bad exactly, but a fairly disappointing beer. This beer pours a relatively pale, translucent gold with an okay white head. The aroma started out mostly grassy, minerally hops (noble?) with a healthy dash of earth, which was fairly simple but ok. The flavor was mostly simple malt with some Belgian yeastiness. Not much going on and what was there didn’t seem quite right. As the beer warmed, a lot of booziness came out and the beer really started smelling and tasting like a bit of a mess. The thin, almost watery body certainly didn’t help things. Again, this wasn’t terrible. There were no glaring problems, but it just didn’t work for me.

Tap at Raley Field Brewfest. Pours gold with a white head. Spicey aroma with banana hints. Flavor is bready, yeast/spicey and a touch of banana. A thick bodied, rather lightly flavored, Belgian. Spice does pick up tho.

Sampled on tap, from a tulip glass at Pizza Paradiso, Dupont Circle, DC. Slightly hazy bright yellow gold with a thin, creamy, white head. Aroma is sweet, tropical fruits, yeast, a little booze. Flavor is very sweet, lots of fruit, a little banana, candy, yeast. Finish is smooth and sweet. Even at 8.7% it’s very drinkable but not spectacular.

Draft. Hazy golden amber beer with a nice off-white head. Light spicy aroma with some esters coming through. Spicy/fruity (summer) flavor with some backing earthiness. Medium body. Lingering spice. Expected a bit more. Bit too estery, and would like to see it slightly dryer.
